Intermittent Surging - again

I know there have been many threads on surging but I think my situation may be different. The truck has had all the flashes and recalls done in addition to a replaced FICM. I have about 56,000 miles on the truck. It started intermittent surging a while ago and the Ford diesel mechanic indicated a couple of modules where not communicating. The fix was to disconnect the batteries and “reboot” the system which seemed to work for awhile. I was on a trip the past week and it started surging intermittently again. It will run fine for a hundred miles and then have a few “fits” and then go back to normal. It does not seem to make any difference if it is at idle or running down the road at 70 MPH. It seems that if it acting up and you shut it down and restart it is OK for awhile. It goes back to the dealer next Tuesday to see if it left codes and if they can determine what is going on. It never dies or refuses to start but when you are 800 miles from home it is a little disconcerting to have your truck acting up. Any ideas or questions I should ask?
