Well, things have not gone well with the USNA for my son. He was well on his way to becoming triple Q'ed or triple qualified for competition to become appointed. He qualified academically and also physically with his CFA (candidate fitness assessment and then came the DoDMERB (Department of Defense Medical Examiner Review Board)....perfect health but unfortunately he has a "Slight Color Perception" or "Partial Color Blind" and that is not allowed as an officer in the Navy. It also disqualifies you for Annapolis even if you take the Marine Corps option. NROTC is also out. He was crushed, he was well on his way for an appointment and was blown out of the water. Not only did he lose his college choice but a life style that he's been working on for 2 years now.
One glimmer of hope is that in this process the USMA (West Point) picked him up as a candidate and he's considering being a Cadet there.
So Higgins, Go Army, Beat Navy.
