One of the advantages of having a pre-pump filter with 3/8" ball valves on the input and output, is that the flow from the tank is effectively cut off, eliminating the "diesel bath".
Do the engine filter, shut off the valves to the pre-pump filter, change out the HFCM filter, then change out the pre-pump and aux fuel filters (total of four).
The HFCM one isn't hard, just tedious.
And, I hope it doesn't have to be said: Please use only Motorcraft or IH filters. If the HFCM filter (the bigger of the two) doesn't have the white water separating film covering, don't use those filters.
