That's a sad state of affairs. I've heard of groups of dirt-bags that work big events like that from concerts to horse shows, etc, and break into whatever they can especially if it takes place in a larger city. Years ago a guy on an RV forum said they caught some low-lifes whose main event was working a big resturant chain parking lot strictly over in the RV parking area because most people (including myself) don't usually have their trailer door locked when they're going down the road.
As far as a video camera, I'd bet they make one that is motion activated only that would work well in a trailer. I know they make them for deer scouting purposes that you attach to a tree, etc.
