I wouldn't take that to the bank...Ford says the same thing about their little Focus and the rest of their gasoline engines too.

In fact, Ford says a lot of things...Like your rear differential is lubricated for life...or just add 8-10 oz of SCA to the green coolant every 15K miles rather than use a test strip...etc. But as enthusiasts, we know better. We know our diesel engine has special coolant needs, and that there are more robust coolants available than Ford's Gold.

The Gold is a universal, one-size-fits-all hybrid that contains conventional components, like silicate. And therefore, in a diesel, it should be treated like a coolant that contains those conventional components.

3-years/50K miles is a good change interval for any diesel enthusiast using a coolant containing conventional components. There are better, more robust, longer-life heavy duty diesel coolants available. I listed some in my flush procedure.
