About the only way to find out if the heads are cracked would be to magnaflux them. Few if any dealers do this.
You said they found no failures when they pulled the heads or with the EGR cooler. Presuming they are correct, my next question is, did they check the oil cooler? The TSB on puking says they are to do so. If they did not, then there is still one part of the diagnosis that has not been done.
One last question.... Did they try replacing the cap? There have been a few batchs of bad caps out there.......
