WIF light, changing out the HFCM

I bought an 04 F250 with an 6.0 PSD last Aug with only 41000 miles........last week the fuel in water light came on for the first time. So I drained the HFCM and thought they had fixed it. But the light came back on the next day, drained again to only come back on. Went to Ford and was told to first run out fuel and see if new fill-up fixes problem. But after reading posts here, beginning to feel it is the HFCM that needs replacing. I have two questions........is it possible to change this HFCM myself and what will it take to accomplish it? Second, is Ford the only place to get one or would IH have one cheaper that would work as good as Ford's?
