BKB, your VW and Ford are two entirely different critters; it's like comparing an elephant to a rabbit (forgive the VW pun).

I'm no fan of the Garrett VGT. I don't like the fact that it doesn't spool up fast, like the Holset HX/HY-35 wastegated turbo on the 2nd Gen Cummins does.

I think, and maybe the techs can chime in on this, that the Garrrett VGT is designed to produce maximum efficiency and power, without wasting fuel. The penaltly, it would seem, is turbo lag.

I wish I knew what my boost was, when I'm towing, but gauges are the next item on my agenda and, until Household 6 tells me that it's okay to get them, I'm gaugeless.

I do know, that my truck FEELS like it has plenty of boost, while driving under acceleration, but off the line it's a dog.
