I don't know the answer to your question, but here's my take. I have an '08 V-10 with the Torqueshift Automatic and a 4.10 rear. I have towed heavy on 4 different occasions from Idaho to El Paso and back over those nasty mountains, and I never had a single ping. I have installed the Diablosport Predator programmer in the "middle" 91 octane tow/performance setting and this truck hauls balls. They also have a 93 octane, super performance setting, but I have kept it on the middle setting for over 25k of my 32k miles. No use in messing with success IMHO. This truck kicks butt and never complains and is easy on the pocket book compaired to a diesel. You might give the Predator a try.
