I didn't have to do anything except move wires around. The resistor deal might only be for the earlier vans. On my van there is a few terminated wires near the brake booster. I think there is aux ac, 4x4, and one labeled cto. The cto wire is the one you want. Should be white with pink tracer.

I will see if I can get the pinouts for a 97 van posted.
