That's what I did. I wasn't worried about towing over 10,000 lbs. I wanted to be able to carry more tongue weight if need be. However, the 2000 receiver-hitch bolt holes are smaller so they would have to be drilled out or you would have to find a 2002 receiver-hitch like i did. I pretty much scored I found the receiver-hitch and bolts for $50. The bolts alone from most companies are over $100. It's difficult job drilling the bolts out though.
