It is possible to get differing MPG's with different CPS's. I took my truck in for the recall soon after I bought it, so I didn't have any decent established numbers for before. However, after Ford put in the gray CPS I bought an IH black CPS and tried it out. It made the truck much smoother and quieter, but MPG's dropped from 15.5 at the time to 13.2 on winter fuel. I have switched back and forth a few times now since, and every time the MPG's are 2-2.5mpg less with the black CPS. Since I've been running summer fuel now, the truck has been getting 18.5 in town with the gray CPS and 16.1 with the black one. I'll suffer with a little more diesel sound for the extra MPG's.
