"five years ago---brother had wayyyy low oil pressure. in winter----!!! i pulled pan and put in new bearings--same---pulled pan and put in new oil pump---same----called guy in marion ia, he said pressure reg valve is stuck--brother pulled it off--sure nuff--stuck--so, i took a screwdriver, and beat back the stakes holding it in----polished it with a scotchbrite, put back--pressure to burn--day later, said i got bearing noise up front, hmmm. said pull intake---he wasnt happy, but i was glad. when pulled valley pan--lifter retainer broke, lifter went 90 deg, and near ground cam and itself to death--soooooooooo, we fixed it with used cam and rebuilt lifters---pressure to burn!!!!! the bits of metal from cam and lifters stuck the relief valve--!!!!!!!!!!!! lasted till trade off---7 months ago--said it still ran great----"
This was for an IDI but could happen to a power stroke.
