Buttons can go bad. Lost one off my shirt the other day. LOL
No, really switches fail. That's not to say this is your situation. Find the wires to it and test it. I'm to lazy right now to go look at a schema of the system. So your on your own there. But it should be fairly easy to find and test the switch. Worst case you can by pass it with your own switch.
Perhaps someone will have been here before and know the wires to check.
