You list '96 my, and I believe another member who had the same problem as you describe had found his de-airation valve had backed itself out.
If that happens it will bypass all the lube oil supply back into the pan.
I think the only way to verify is to remove the front cover, and I believe it was determined only 1996 my that had that style front cover
