Warranty coverage question

I have a 2005 F350 dually diesel with less than 22,000 miles on it. I also have a Ford primuim care 7yr./70,000 mile warranty with $0 deductible. The other day I drove it to work (25 miles) and when I parked it, smoke was pouring out of the left rear wheel and it smelt like burning brakes. So, I drop it off at Ford this morning and they call me back. They told me they are ordering me a new caliper and re-surfacing my rotor. I asked about replacing the pads and they told me they werent damaged and if they put that on the warranty tag, Ford would reject the whole claim. Sounds like BS to me. I know brake pads are wear items but when a defective part causes excessive wear, I thought they would be covered. Any input would be appreciated.
