E40D custom application.. need shorter dipstick..??
Hello,
Im using an older E40D tranmission to drive a gearbox on a log/wood saw mill.. I'm looking for a dipstick that will fit in the SHORT dipstick tube coming out of the transmission... The original dipstick tube "extension?" is pulled out and now its just the 8 or 10" or so tube coming out of the transmission that I'm looking for a dipstick to fit... The factory dipstick fits good enough but obviously its like 3 feet too long..
1. should I use the original dipstick and cut it to length... but I dont know what the correct fluid level is supposed to be at, as i dont have the original dipstick tube to use to get the correct level...
2. is there a dipstick that is already made to fit this application?
