If "mooching" is a problem, we need to examine the insurance corporations first. They skim 20-30% of the dollars paid toward medical care and divert them to their own profit and overhead. People actually providing medical care have to work with what's left over.

I'm a little surprised anybody could find this proposal "unbelievable". Most states have mandatory car insurance, enforced with fines. All that's currently being proposed is to extend that decades-old precedent to include medical insurance.

A protection racket by any other name ...
