Mechanical gauge will tell the story on the low pressure side. Have you pulled the oil filter out, pushed the black drain valve down with a screwdriver while having someone crank the motor? It should fill the housing with oil very quickly. If it does fill, assume the LPO system is ok and start looking for a massive leak in the HPO system. (Since you have already pulled the valve covers, I would take the HPOP cover off next) If it does not fill the oil filter housing, you have a LPO system problem. The first things to check there would be the oil pressure relief valve, and then the oil pump itself.
