I have a 60 gal tank in my 450, in my 350 before that. The DTE works just fine for me, it just never shows much lower til the main tank starts to empty. It is gravity feed--I can use fuel faster than it will fill, especially when towing. Then it catches up overnight. Usually the DTE will register what the computed mpg was on the previous fill and calculate a new DTE based on 38 gallons fuel. Kinda neat--stop for the night, get up next morning, tank is full again and DTE back to about 450 miles. With my 350, I was able to go around 1100-1300 miles before needing fuel; not near as far with the 450. It looks to me like anyone with a 450 and towing a heavy load is gonna need an aux tank or go batty stopping for fuel.
