AV Press: Thurman moving from Division III Norwich to Division I Cal Berkeley
I got him up there and into a place with the starting forward, Jamal Boykin this saturday.
With a combination of Goodwill and thrift shop stops and a few donations from my brother, we got him enough stuff to make a start in Berkeley. He is EXCITED to say the least and we here in our little community are VERY happy he worked as hard as he did to make it academically, since you can't get into UC Berkeley on athletics alone.
Rob can't wait to get things going and the F-350 got us there and me back pretty well. In fact, I got 188.2 miles on the clock 'til it came off full, but then I drive like a grandfather, pacing with the semi's.... after 372 miles, I'd only gone through 1/3 of a tank.....
In my wildest dreams, I never thought he'd make it this far, but I was told his raw talent, under the right coaching would pay off for him and I hope he graduates with a degree AND enjoys his time playing. If he CAN make it to the pros somewhere, that would be OK, but his grades and his community service got him where he is now.
I love you , son. Do your best, that's all I could ever ask of you.
Dad
