I have been rattling cages at two local dealerships with not a word on release of this beast. In the BlueOval pages Engineers are chatting up about how it will start production in as soon as Nov this year and could be Job build #1 as soon as Feb. details are cloudy as to exact confirmation as just in Ca. alone emmisions will have to be met.
Over 400 HP and 720 ft lbs. and better fuel mileage screams buy me but the urea issue( which really isn't much of an issue if F takes the lead and treats it with oil changes) is something to keep in the recesses of your mind.
This is an all F built product as the connection with Navistar has been severed on Powerstrokes. That being said, the Powerstrioke title will remain in place.. according to sources in BlueOval.. but the name Scorpion is stamped on it. There is a whole fact sheet on that engine which is pretty awesome even to me.. a non-mechanic.
I have been following this project in depth as I just ordered a 2010 F-450 King ranch. I was considering holding off on the build-out to wait for the 6.7L beast however trips are planned for next summer and the 2010 is a beast in its own right. The salesreps get visits by Engineers who talk of upcoming projects with dates that do not seem to ever get met...according to a few I spoke with.
Six months for the 2011 would be fine but I cannot get anyone to confirm Job #1 so I may own this 2010 F-450 4x4 King Ranch for a year and lose it for a new one...maybe. Yes, I will eat a few bucks and pay more but I want one more truck to take me until the end of days. I am a F man.. enough said. Plus the incentives to move the last of the 09s and last in line 10s which are just starting production ( just got confirmation yesterday mine is starting build-out) is a phenom not to miss.
And the stock is in the low 7's!
