If a bearing starts wearing and throwing lead into the oil, that bearing probably isn't going to heal itself. My guess is that lead will continue to increase no matter what oil is used. Higher viscosity may help to reduce lead iniitially, but it will probably continue to increase and eventually (probably not tomorrow) that bearing is going to be bad enough that the engine will need to be rebuilt.
