I have an 08 F 250 with the 5.4 and it fill the bill for me just find. Unless you tow or haul heavy every day greater than 8k the 5.4 will do fine. i get about 15 to 16 on the road unloaded at 55 to 60 mph. I don't think it is a bad choice.
