Make a special trip to walmart and get 4gal of oil and a motorcraft or fram filter (exact same filter). I say a special trip to only make sure the oil is nice and warm. If you are coming home from somewhere then it will be nice and warm from that. Open up the oil filter cap but leave the filter there and let it drain for a few minutes. Climb under the truck and with a ---- wrench remove the drain plug and let it drain for at least 20min into the pan. While draining, snap the old filter out of the cap and remove the old O-ring. Install the new O-ring and snap the new filter into the cap. Oil the O-ring and replace the cap. Hand screw the cap down until it touches the alumn housing. By the way the cap that is the center most on the engine is the oil cap, the one more to the front is the fuel filter. Once you have screwed the cap down by hand give it a slight turn with a wrench. Just lightly snug it nothing more, the O-ring keeps it liquid tight. Make it too tight the cap will crack and break. Replace drain plug, put 15 qts in and start it up. You will need a 15 qt drain pan. I use the one walmart sells because it does a nice job, its cheap and you can actually pour the oil back into the jugs although you will not be able to use the 4th jug because it will still have a quart in it. When possible photocopy the walmart receipt and keep it in the owners manual. It is your oil change proof that they will ask for if you need to have any work done on the engine. The photocopy is less likely to fade or turn colors then the original. Should take you about a half hour total. I am not sure what the drain plug size is on the 6.4....the 6.0 had a 19mm drain plug so take a 19 and 20 with you. The filter cap is a 36mm although i use a large adjustable Stanley wrench from walmart that i can adjust to fit all of the caps on the truck. I haven't done an oil change on my 6.4 yet (due next month) but i just did our 6.0 a couple hours ago. What i have posted should be relatively accurate. Oh and one last thing. Take a few minutes when under the truck and look around. These trucks are amazing mechanically. Good luck and congrads you just saved yourself a nice chunk of change.
