That will work, although it is slow. It helps if you can let it set in the sun in a dark (or clear) vessel to warm up and let natural convection turn it over. I have never tried it, as I recover, but I have read it takes up to three weeks to get rid of the methanol. Logically a 55 gallon drum is going to be slower than a pan. The shallower the container the better.
