My thermocouple is in the up pipe (pre-turbo). My TTM is set for 300°, so the engine dies at 300°. That usually takes about 60 seconds when unloaded or two to three minutes when towing at highway speeds (74 MPH unloaded or 62 MPH towing). If I don't turn off the key, mine will very slowly cool off to around 280°. If I crank it cold and immediately let it idle, it begins at about 275° but slowly warms up to about 280°.
