Sorry but I have a hard time believing that. If stock was the best AFE, Volant, S&B and many other would be out of business. No one would use there filters for risk of engin damage.
on the tuned trucks like mine the stock intake doesn't become a restriction until you start using the 210 and higher tunes....
As far as filtration you won't find a better set up. Also, other than the S&B all those intakes are prone to CEL's with an otherwise stock truck. Do a search
