I checked the oil first off to make sure there wasn't any Diesel in the oil. I Do change the oil every 5k to prevent anything like this, What good that did.
I'm almost sure that the injectors are sealed good and there are no leaks for it may have been loosing power but was still very smooth and not a misfire shutter.
I almost would bet a ball that the damn HPOP is toast or something in direct relation ie; regulator controller, ICP....
You know I'm a Industrial Diesel Tech, so I know there will ALWAYS be some sorta failure involved in cars, trucks, and so on. What pisses me off is when I talked to the dealer I had to agree to a $210 diagnosis... I told the dude that it's under warranty and his reply is "We dont know that yet"? ***
Look at the miles on it and the year you anus... When I go on trouble calls thats the first thing we do before we move out. Check the hours on the unit and the year purchased and what warranty they got. Its basic math... 1+1= Yes or no... Regardless
I dont know why in the smaller Diesels like International and Isuzu they still use the HPOP systems. I wish they would go more traditional, Camshaft-Pushrod-Rocker setup. It works in the industrial world and there is less stuff to manufacture and less stuff to go wrong... Oh well I guess...
You know shelbyandadiesel I work for Detroit Diesel and I seen a couple of 3-53's in small trucks. MESSY engines, If I was gonna do a engine swap I would try and stuff a 6-92 under the hood of my truck. Prolly get poopy mileage though. I like my 6.0 though, This is the first time it has truely let me down. even when it blew the head gaskets it was still road worthy 100%... I had to put some water in it but still ran hard core...
