Several years ago we had a great system for customers to track their order through the Ford assembly process. But it used Ford resources, and Ford forced us to stop telling you how to do it. So your only legal choice right now is to get in bed with your dealerperson and have him provide you with a frequent update to the status of your order.

Your dealerperson that ordered your vehicle can use the Ford dealer ordering system to access your order and read the latest status. It takes a coupla of minutes, so if you don't have a good dealerperson you're dealing with, then you may get static. But with a decent dealerperson who cares about customer service, they'll gladly access your order status and pass it on to you. But daily updates are too much to ask of that dealerperson. Twice a week at the most, and maybe weekly would be even more reasonable.

The status will be in code, so you have to be able to interpret the buzz words. Go to the '99-up FAQ (off the home page of TheDieselStop), then click on "during your order". That will tell you what the various stages of production means.

After your truck leaves the assembly plant by rail, the best way to track it is to get the boxcar number from your Ford status report, then go to the applicable railroad website. Some railroads provide boxcar tracking, but some don't. If you live fairly close to Louisville, KY, then your truck may go all the way via "convoy", which means a car-hauler truck with no railroad involved.

Today I advise folks to order their new truck from Bobby Williams at Sunrise Ford Fleet - Your Super Duty Truck Headquarters
Bobby posts your order status on his website and gives you the key to your order status report. So you can check it every five minutes if you are a really antsy type of guy.
