2003 6.0l dead

My 2003 6.0l is dead. It has been starting up rough, idling rough and cutting out when giving the gas for the past couple weeks, after you drive it for a few miles it will all clear up. It got to the point to where it wouldnt start. So after trying to start it up for a couple of days it finally started and I took it to a 6.0l mechanic. He started by changing out the icp, which was leaking out oil. This did not fix the problem so he suggested that I took it to ford to get the program flashed, I have a edge on it that has been cutting on and off for a couple of months now so we took it off before he changed out the icp. So I took it to the ford dealership and they hooked up the laptop and all 8 injectors were faulted out. After flashing the program the codes came back. I then left to go home and my truck broke down on me, so I got it towed back to the dealer. They then replaced the ficm and checked the codes and now only 2 injectors are alarming. The truck started but still not running right. They now suggest that all 8 injectors need to be replaced along with the hpop, I went to pick up the truck and it would not crank. They are saying that my hpop is creating metal shavings which is getting to the injectors. Does any of this sound true and what would you do. I will have around $6500 tied up if I do what they suggest. I just want it running so I can sale it.
