DAMN, Is that totally necessary to pull the tranny?
What an ordeal. At least they didn't just replace the ICP and put it on it's way. Seems like he is digging and thats ok with me...

The tube you are speaking of is called the branch tube. It is secured to the infamous STC fitting which connects to the HP oil pump. The pressurized oil leaves the pump and runs thru the tube thru the rear of the eng. The oil then runs thru the stand pipes to the HP oil rails on to the injectors. They do not fail often and the replacment process is tedious and time consuming. Trans has to come out, rear engine cover has to be removed, The valve covers have to come off along with the HP oil rails. Then you must remove rocker arms on both sides of the motor to access the tiny torx bolts that secure the front of the pipe to the block. Its such a pain that after the first few I did, I just pull the entire motor to save time. Every tech is different and I am sure some do fine with the engine still in the chasis. I am confident all will work out well for you !
