I was towing my Jeep to the desert. My truck over heated. When I added coolant everything seemed fine, so I continued towing. I towed my Jeep back home and still everything is fine. I turned off the truck to unload the Jeep and when I restarted the truck it billowed out white smoke.

I turned off the engine and left it to cool overnight. In the morning I checked inside the EGR and found a small bit of liquid. Reinstalled the EGR and started the engine. I puffed a small (muck less then the night before) amount of white smoke at idle and reduced when up to temp.

I am wondering if I have a bad head gasket or EGR cooler, or both.

I live in San Diego and am looking for a good reputable mechanic for repairing. Anyone have any ideas? I really don't want to go to the Ford unless I have to.
Liquid in the EGR passages is a blown cooler. You cannot diagnose head gaskets without having the cooler repaired. If the EGR cooler is blown, the Oil cooler MUST be replaced and the cooling system thuroughly flushed.
