Engine block heater VS Edge Platinum

Figure this one out....

Today I used the engine block heater on my 07 for the first time (32 degrees out). I have the plug on a timer so it'll turn on 2 hours before I get up and go to work (great trick.) Worked great and cranked right up, however I noticed that it reset my Edge system to factory specs. It acted as if the heater block terminates battery connection to everything? Does this sound right to anyone. The system was professionally installed, so I don't see where the problem would lie. Anyone?

I'll try it again tomorrow and double check. Also will a Ford Dealer (Stealer) be able to calibrate speedos on lifted trucks running big rubber (38"), or am I better off hitting up a race shop with a dyno machine and the right tools? Thanks.
