The block heater reseting your edge makes no sense at all. The cord runs straight to the heater in the block and doesn't connect to anything else as far as I know. If it truely interrupted your battery connection, your radio and clock would have been reset also. I will be interested to hear what happened.
As far as your tires and the speedo adjustment I thought you edge adjust your speedo for tire size, but you have to know revs per mile.
