You have the same disease that most northern truck owners have including myself it starts out as just a little corrosion that then becomes a little rust, which then becomes a lot of rot, and it never sleeps either, continuing to eat away at the metal transforming it back to it's original state. Some of the effected parts on my truck includes the frame, bed fenders (inside and outside), the rails under the bed, bottom of the doors, springs, oil pan, diff. covers, front bumper and other parts that I can't think of right now. What does it cost to repair depends how bad it is, but it can be big $$$$$. Ford truck in the northern rust belt for the last 30 plus years have all had this problem.
