I add around 2 quarts into the resivour with the oil cooler off. Either way, youre not going to hurt anything, there is no priming procedure. It can take up to a minute of cranking, it'll start, run like crap for a couple seconds. Hold it at 2,000 rpms for 30 seconds or a minute and then drive the crap out of it get the air out of the oil/fuel.
