I find a mirror on the end of a long (adjustable) handle (available at most automotive stores) is a handy tool for looking in the nooks and crannies.
If, after all of this, you do find it see if you can take a picture of it, like you did before, to show it to the dealership. Assumming you end up going that route. Then they can't claim "no problem found". That is what I get most of the time. Then, as I drive my '04down the road, the truck takes off on it's own, then sputters, the repeats the scenario, then smoothes out so I can't demonstrate to the dealership.
