As far as the MM Act is concerned; Ford does not state that you must use Motorcraft or Racor filters. However it has been well documented here and on other sites that A/M filters do create problems with the 6.0. All the dealer has to do is show that the A/M filter is your problem source and bye-bye warranty coverage. This is one horse that has been totally beaten to death and I think even the Pope knows to stick with OEM filters, Not Wannabees.
