What happened to the posse on this forum who used to preach the ways of WMO and blending WVO?? Likely they found out why its not such a good idea... It usually takes awhile because 'it runs great' - right up to the point that it don't run so great anymore - then its often tooooo late.
That 'little bit of smoke' is your first indication of failure to achieve complete combustion. This is slowing coking up the combustion chamber and ruining your engine. Yep, MANY folks have had 'limited' success burning WMO and WVO in un-modified engines - but it is often short-lived (nowhere near the life expectancy of a 'diesel' engine). Sadly, the horror stories seldom get published. I have personally met several 'blenders' who wrecked engines and never have posted on any forums - but like you, heard from somewhere WMO/WVO was a viable fuel.
I always say Choose wisely or PLEASE post pics of the carnage!!
But, what do I know - I have a 'converted' truck that has over 110k miles and an Excursion w/over 40k miles on straight WVO without ANY problems. Sure, I spent a few $$ on my conversions, but I got that back so long ago I never give it a 2nd thought! And unlike blending, our 3000-8000 mile road trips cost about as much as driving to town... (I've been well over 10k miles on a single tank of diesel)
