Pop when replacing steering gear airbag light on. Is it the clockspring
We had to replace my power-steering gear out in the field yesterday. After fitting the steering shaft onto the gear I heard a pop the next time I turned the steering wheel, and then when I started the engine the airbag light started flashing and then stayed on steady. My brother said maybe we turned the steering shaft too much and "broke the clockspring". He has heard of this but didn't know what all it involved. I hadn't heard of the clockspring before at all and am hoping someone out there can help us out.
