>>>>>>>>>>>It bothers me to see people bashing on dealerships in this sense... You saved what, like $4 after shipping to not support your local dealership (your local economy...)?? Seems to me like the $30 you paid to have your problem diagnosed was money well spent..... who cares where you decide to get your oil changed. The talented poeple who work at these dealerships are the same people who come on here and help you out with your problems so you don't have to go there, and then you get to say how useless dealerships are. <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
Well, let's see once RotoFixer....
They didn't have the part that I needed, and they were going to charge me over $100 labor to do a job that I was able to do in 15 minutes....With freight, I purchased to part for almost the same price as the local dealer was going to charge, and I didn't have to make a trip back...
The shop was near empty, so it seems that I'm not the only one who feels this way about car dealerships...I asked what their going rate was, and the mechanic told me $85/hr.....Now down in West Palm Bch, Fla, the dealership down there charges over $120/hr....and they are packed...
Does any of this make sense....not to me....
Besides, I hear tell that this dealership had already gone into bankruptcy, and quitely emerged...
The guys that work on my Excursion are former [diesel] mechanics that used to work at the Ford dealer...Some of the best in the area....They've got their own business less than two blocks away, and their hourly rate is $65/hr....
Their is nothing wrong with the mechanics...They are good guys, just like the one that worked on my truck....They just happen to be working for a bunch of crooks who charge an arm and leg for their services..
Sorry, I'm NOT paying $100 for a 15 minute job...
