Catastrophic Engine Failure

Hi
Our E450 Super Duty has a 6 Litre Powerstroke diesel with no aftermarket mods. On its first long trip to with 5800 miles total on the clock the engine has failed terminally. From what the engineers have seen without stripping it down it appears to have had a piston failure and oil pan fire. I have contacted Fords countless times and although they have admitted I have a valid warranty they are being evasive. I've since found out that Fords had major problems with this engine. Anyone else had problems that can advise me on how to proceed?
