It's not a black or white issue, it's about balance. One or the other is not totally right. The idea is prevent private the rise of abusive, private autocratic powers who do nothing for the people as they did in England vs Ensuring that a system of reward stays in place for those who do good.
Education and Improvements in production create greater wealth for EVERYBODY. You can call it "wealth redistribution" if you like, I'll call it a system fair taxation.
It only becomes wealth redistribution if the money gets used for consumption purposes in the form of handouts rather than investments in education and hardware.
