"Isn't accurate" is an understatement. In actuality it's just a glorified idiot light. The "sender" is actually just a pressure switch. When there's no pressure, the gauge goes all the way down. When pressure comes up, the pressure switch closes, and the gauge just goes...to a position somewhere other than zero.
Although I've added other gauges (boost, pyro) I really gave up on worrying about oil pressure.
