First post...fuel heater question
Hello everyone!
This is my first post here. I have a 1997 F350 extended cab with the 7.3L. As far as I know, it is stock other than a K&N filter. I bought it from my wife's grandfather, and it's barely broken in with less than 78,000 on the clock...and it's a Florida truck to boot.
At any rate, as far as I can tell, I had the fuel heater in the filter bowl short out on me on Sunday (blown fuse #22). Fortunately, I was less than 1/4 mile from home when this happened. Based on info from posts here, my best bet is just to remove it from the circuit.
Now for my question: Do you guys just unplug the heater inside the bowl, or do you remove it altogether, and not replace it? It looks like it would be tough to get to the plug in the bowl without at least taking the heater loose because the plug is under the heater plate.
Also, my bowl does not drain when I flip the drain lever. Any suggestions on how to clear it?
Thanks!
Graham
