It's been about 10,500 miles since I changed my fuel filters. This was at 41,000 miles on the truck. Filters were remarkably clean. I bought the truck used with 29,000 miles and changed the filters soon after. They were pretty dirty then. I don't think they had ever been changed.
I did the job in right at 20 minutes and avoided the diesel shower. I waited for the draining to stop completely. I learned my lesson after the first time. Give it a couple of minutes to drain.
I cycled the key 8-9 time after the filter change. It started and died. I cycled the key 4-5 more times and it cranked and stayed running.
