You are gonna have to bite the bullet on the switching valve. It will most likely be a one time investment considering the one on your truck now is most likely the original. You can get a new front tank from Autozone, Advance Auto, NAPA, O'Riellys, etc. Way cheaper than ford. Make sure the new tank is steel or plastic as the galvanized units have a reaction to diesel fuel for some reason.
