Here's my .02 cents. Catastrophic failures happen. On a 6.0L, with that low of a mileage I'd say it's a manufacture's defect. Maybe a crack in a rod, piston, ect. I've seen rods hanging out the sides of E-Series anywhere from 150 miles to 8,000 miles on them. The only way to know for sure is to tear down BUT THAT IS NOT YOUR RESPONSIBILITY FINANCIALLY! It's covered under the 5 year/100k mile power train warranty, no if's and or but's about it. The only thing they could try to ding you on is maintance. When was the last time you changed your oil? I did a quick search through the owner's manual and they recommend an oil change every 5k miles, I could not find a time frame. For severe duty applications it's 3k/3 months, but that does not apply to you. How far up the food chain have you gotten? Are you just talking to the service manager or do you have Ford Customer Service involved? Sounds to me that the dealer A. Does not have a lot of diesel experience. B. Do not want to put an engine assembly in a E-Series. C. Do not want to put an engine assembly in an E-Series that is a Motorhome. D. Want to try to point the finger at you and make you incur the costs to repair. If the dealer told you "Ford said it's a no go" then I suggest you get a lawyer. Call the dealer, tell them you want the service manager, service writer, technician involved, dealer principal, and local field service engineer present for a conference call with them, yourself, and your lawyer. Might want to look into your local lemon laws also.
