Its normal. Its a turbo diesel, its makes power with boost. No boost, no power, there is no boost off idle so thats where the lag comes from. It will never be like a gas engine off idle, just adjust your driving to live with it.
I have a 6sp. manual and its definatly more noticable in the manual tranny trucks.
